Re: Generator

It is truly an odd duck of a panel, there are only four full-sized spaces underneath the main breaker. I've never personally been a fan of meter main combinations, because one part always fails first and you have to replace the whole unit. They're very common in Davie and Plantation and houses built...

Re: Generator

It is a GE meter/main combo. If he had shown another 18 in up you would see the meter. You can see an FPL tamper tag if you look closely. The main breaker actually takes up both sides of the bus under the metal deadfront. So a side by side interlock wouldn't work I installed an interlock in one of t...

Re: Generator

Open the lid on the outdoor box. Take a picture of it from 4 feet back. Measure the distance between the main breaker and the breakers under it.

Could you please post a link or more info on the interlock kits, I would like learn more and maybe get one for my house. I use my 220v 30a plasma cut...

Re: Generator

Edited to add. With the generator you've got that transfer switch is sufficient. However if you ever get a bigger heavy duty generator it won't be. With an interlock kit, you can run anything in the whole house easily. With one of those, you can only run what's on the transfer switch. If you want to...

Re: Generator

Those transfer switches are typically designed for a 30 amp interface. So you'll be able to run your fridge a few lights and ceiling fans. If you ever buy a bigger generator, you have to upgrade the transfer switch. If you get an interlock device, you're turning the whole house off from FPL power, a...

Re: Generator

What outside panel do you have? Inside panel. Where is the generator inlet going to be installed?

Those transfer switches suck. Look into interlock devices for whole house power.
