Hi gang!
so it looks like I may be getting into dirt bikes with my son
I'll probably start him off with full gear of course and then some training classes on a 50cc or maybe bigger (Honda CRF110 looks like a very good starter bike for him, no clutch, semi auto transmission, not much power). Turns out a friend of mine who lives in Broward has a big property with his own trail where he rides bikes and atvs with his son and wife.
I know there's a trail / track off of SR27 I think right as you enter Miami Dade County. But I live in Coral Springs close to where Atlantic Blvd connects to Sawgrass. I used to go fishing there and often I would see people on bicycles riding along the Everglades' edge on the tall bank. Could I bring a dirt bike there and rid with my boy?
What other places open to the public are there in Broward or close to it? I don't mind paying admission fee, but I would like a place that either has a separate trail / track for beginners for my kid's safety, or is out in the sticks with little to no traffic.
Also, do you guys think Honda CRF110 would be a good first bike for an 11-yo boy? How about a bike for me? I used to ride a Honda Shadow Spirit 750 cruiser and then CBR600RR. I have about 4 years and 10,000 miles of street riding experience; not much but at least I am not a beginner and know how to handle a motorcycle safely. Some YouTube videos I watched say that an adult male should start with a 125CC two stroke or 250CC 4 stroke bike. Would a Honda CRF250 be good for me? Btw I'm 6'4" so a good fit is important... though I was super comfortable on the CBR600RR and could flat foot it easily. I'm kind of biased toward Honda since I had 4 of their cars (CRV, Pilot, and 2 civics earlier on) and 2 bikes and not a single issue with any one of those, so I think I would prefer to stick with the brand unless there are good reasons to go with something else.
Thanks!
IF/WHEN we get into it I will be certain to post a ton of pics and videos... my son LOVES riding his bicycle and hoover-board and has been talking about a dirt bike for few years now and I'm 100% sure he would absolutely LOVE the sport

I was riding an 80 before my feet could touch the ground
I used to steal my cousins 125 when I got bored of the 80, still couldn't touch the ground, I would start it and take off, kickstand coming up on the fly, then come in for a landing, stop and lean it against the side of the bard to hop off.
I said all this to say, take a bath on an entry level starter bike and then buy him something bigger/nice as he gets older, otherwise you'll be just like everyone else and buying new or bigger bikes every couple of years.
you'll eventually need to invest in an open trailer, in the beginning a cheap one from Harbor freight might do, but those expanded mesh types make clean up a breeze, just stop at a coin car wash and hose everything down on the way home, then back it into the garage.

You can ride anywhere you please in Broward...po-po won't do sheet (and may even block traffic for you on occasion). #BSOPussies
