The good thing about a Chapter 11 is all the dirty laundry that has been buried is likely to be put on the table. The haters will have their day, but that organization needs a thorough rinsing.

It's a good thing that they and their tax $, headquarters etc will no longer help the economy of New York State, vote with your feet as they say.
And does it change anything regarding life member status?

I read it will in no way change any status', magazine subscription, etc. Business will continue as normal, they are simply consolidating debts and re-organizing in Texas. They will come out of this stronger than the position they're currently in.
In their announcement, they said it would not.
