Board rules - for sale ads allowed?

Post by PLUGH »

New user. Suggested to this forum as I have some items for sale. However, I don't see any "for sale" boards, and searching the forum for "for sale" doesn't produce any ads. Searching the FAQ for "sell" or "sale" doesn't produce any results, either.

So my impression would be that individual ads aren't prohibited, but the lack of ads makes me wonder. I rather not start off by p***ing off the admins and moderators. So, are individual for sale ads allowed?

On the general Discussions section It is under the BST Rules thread on the top. BST stands for buy/sell/trade. New users are restricted from posting items as is discussed in those rules.

Here is a direct link... https://www.floridashootersnetwork.com/ ... f=5&t=2572

Thanks and welcome!

Thanks. I see those rules now. I don't recall seeing those topics before - maybe because I'm a new user?

Yes, only confirmed users have access to the trade forums.

Thanks again for helping me get my account set up. At what point is one allowed to send private messages? I already have one that I can't respond to. There's just a somewhat cryptic, "you may need to participate more in the boards" message when I try to compose.

We generally like to see a new user contribute to the discussions. This is to prevent users just showing up for sales ads. This board has a wide range of topics and the members have been around a long time. So the board settings are set to move a new user to more privileges as their post count increases. We do ask that members participate in discussions so that we can all learn and gain knowledge from each other. You will find FSn to be a fairly tight community. Lots of the members here have been on this board for 20 years or more. Don't be fooled by the dates on profiles as we had a server crash some time ago and everyone had to reregister.

Welcome to the board! There are a lot of great topics on here for the firearms community and do not hesitate to ask questions. Lots of great experienced members here that can offer advice on just about any topic.

A lot of forums do this, and it's very understandable. I should have looked for this forum years ago. At this point, however, we're moving out of state, and my primary interest is in lightening the load a bit.
