Toddler Shoots Mom Live on Zoom

Veondre Avery appears in a Seminole County, Fla. Sheriff’s Office mugshot.
A Florida man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a young mother during a work-related Zoom call. Shamaya Lynn, 21, died when her own toddler obtained an unsecured handgun, pulled the trigger, and fired, authorities said in August. According to court documents, the gun’s owner, Veondre Avery, 22, kept the weapon in a backpack decorated with animated characters form a children’s show and that his 2-year-old son — the toddler who fired the fatal shot — knew how to use toy guns.
No way this guy is a legal gun owner.
Why is that simple fact ever mentioned?
I guess $29.95 is too much for a reporter's budget?

What are you talking about? He looks like a very nice young man. As a matter of fact, I was going to let him do my taxes this year...

It's the latest fad, with the 13% crowd.

This guy needs to do some serious time.
Putting a loaded gun in a kids backpack, and then leaving the backpack out in the open, was just asking for trouble.

Random side note to this.

Had a newborn doctor's appointment this week. I was holding our child and my wife answered the questions. One of the questions - "Are there any weapons in the home?" Follow up - "Are they locked up?"

The proper answer to that question is nonya. Since that’s not a practical answer I always say no I don’t have any.
