Is that a risk? Sure. Some folks have gotten late slides and barrels and mismatched finishes. Others have gotten better pistols. Mine was a Colt/Colt 1911 from the museum system...could not have asked for a nicer pistol. My folks each got matching RemRands, all original, but worn. How does one know that any specific pistol came from one place? To me, I know that I'll never find out where my pistol went, but it's got 100 years of service under it's belt. If it was rebuilt a time or two, that's ok, it was rebuilt by the mil versus pieced together by some shmo at a gun show.

YMMV.

While there doesnt' seem to be much interest here, I'll update anyone. The turnout for round three has apparently been very low. I imagine that the die-hards got in on round 1, their wives got in for round 2, and now they're trying to figure out how to get old Aunt Nancy to fill out paperwork. Either way, the round 2 orders ended with RGN 32500 or so, give or take. Calls have ALREADY started going out at 33000! So far nobody has gotten a higher number than 35XXX, which is super low. For reference, first round I was in the 8000s when they started at the bottom. It took me a year and a half. At this rate, I'm thinking everyone will have their pistols by the end of the year or shortly thereafter.

Due to the hurricane (and maybe low turnout?) they have extended round three until October 31. If you want in, and can swing the 1000-1200 sooner than later, GET THAT PAPERWORK IN.

Thanks for this. I'd been looking to get one of those new GI model pistols but would be willing to spend twice as much for a rougher version if I knew it was an actual historical piece. And now that I could afford it I may just jump on this (though that would probably be it for the year). I was really busy last week and didn't have time to go through the paperwork so this gives me another chance.
My posts kill threads.

I just received one from Cmp at the end of round two. It was the middle grade as the nicer grade was not available when they called. Honestly, I think the pistol is super cool but it was a bit rough.
