I've long thought the way the government would attack gun ownership was to choke down on ammo, beginning with reloading. Another increment to boiling the frog.
If you can't keep people from owning cars, make it hard to get the gas to run them. Tax it, make it scarce, make it burdensome to own. Same with guns.
