Pre-crash, we had a long thread here. A LEGAL immigrant with a green card, a long-time resident of the US, had a 2A case (the exact details I don't recall). Forgetting his supposed mission statement, i.e. strengthening 2A jurisprudence whenever it is attacked, Pratt instead obsessed over this poor guy not being a citizen and was ready to throw him to the anti-gun wolves. That's fucking personal obsession douchebaggery--as a matter of law, people in the US lawfully have the protection of the Constitution except where it requires citizenship. For example, let's take the right to due process before the taking of life, liberty and property, as stated in the 5th Amendment: "no one shall be "deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law." That does not require citizenship at all, obviously (look at the "privileges and immunities" and the "privileges or immunities" clauses as examples where citizenship is expressly required). To maintain otherwise is to maintain that the federal government could just wake up tomorrow and constitutionally murder every non-citizen in the US. That's insane, although it might give Larry a boner in his declining years.

Similarly, the 2A has no express citizenship restriction tied to it, and I'm not willing to "imply" one--I let commies argue for "Implied" 2A restrictions, thanks. Supposed 2A advocates have no business whatsoever joining into that bullshit, whatever other personal obsessions they may harbor. And as a matter of policy, I would HOPE that if a lawful resident alien is attacked by some criminal scum, we'd all agree he should be able to defend himself and his family. And if the government "becomes" intolerably tyrannical <cough, cough>, I'd be more than happy to have any lawful U.S. resident help in the resistance to that (which, of course, is the core, historical purpose of the 2A).

PS: we had a lot of idiots here also succumb to their personal xenophobia. Being pissed about the swarms of criminal immigrants that our federal government encourages to enter this country is no excuse whatsoever to pile on the people who play by the rules and abide by our laws.

The NRA – of which I’m an Endowment member – seems sure that every gun owner is a country music fan and a Christian.
I am neither.
“Country music” is a contradiction in terms and I’ve been an Atheist since I read the Bible – all of it, not just the pretty parts – while in the 2nd grade.
An NRA video by Dana Loesch refers to, “the godless left”, as if all non-believers are automatically Socialist anti-gun whackos.
The NRA published the video on their website. If they genuinely didn’t agree with it, they wouldn’t have used it.
“NRA Country” pieces in the magazines have praised country singers for their Christian faith.
They sell, "In God We Trust" glassware in their catalog. Seriously? Who's "We"?
It seems that the NRA is sliding toward the, “Christian Nationalist” camp, which I find abhorrent and refuse to support.
I used to alternate my donations between NRA/ILA and the SAF, but for the last several years I’ve just donated to the SAF.
Plenty of NRA members are non-believers. If the NRA wants to alienate those members, they’re going to have to deal with the consequences.
I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. I can live with that.
I seriously doubt the NRA will fail or we’ll all lose our guns because I’m sending my money to the SAF.
