Reagan had a long history of supporting gun control; as Ca Governor, as POTUS, and as Ex-President.
Oh, I know.... trust me, I know. He fought for the Mulford Act.

I know that you know. It just irritates the shit out of me when I hear (or read) how Reagan was pro-gun. He was anything but. This myth needs to die.

There is no such thing as a PRO-GUN politician, some are less ANTI-GUN than others.

tector wrote: Thu Jul 11, 2024 6:25 pm It's very clear it's the Trump cabal behind the gutting of the GOP platform when it comes to the 2A. Luis is 100% correct on that. What each individual does with that realization is up to them. That there is some obvious "one true course" is utter bullshit. So do whatever your conscience guides you to do based on your own sense of how to get through this mess--and the only way forward is through, as they say. Regardless, as Father Time is polishing off Dementia Joe now, Trump is not far down his list. In January he'll either be a lame duck president rapidly approaching 80 himself (he'd get there less than 18 months into his second term), or he'll be history.
Then again, I ask you as I asked Luis, who *should* be in the WH if not Trump? Do you have a viable alternative? One that could get elected and push a pro-2A agenda?
What part of "do whatever your conscience guides you to do" did you not understand? I am not interested in converting anyone to any course of action. IMO, things are going to get much worse before they can get better, and there is no assurance they will get better. So do what's best for you and yours.
I understood it all. But your admonition to "do whatever my conscience guides" seems to imply that my conscience will guide me in the wrong direction, at least as far as you are concerned. Why else would you have continued with bashing Trump after you said it (i.e. "Lame Duck")? So, what I was asking is, "if I"m going in the wrong direction, Which direction will you go," and who do you want in the WH to help you get there?

Just Curious....

I said nothing about a wrong direction--you are listening to voices in your head.

I am not interested in debating generally, and more specifically with people who "believe in" electoral politics, "democracy," and (zombie) constitutionalism. Those are all fine rhetorical tools to use on simps, but Donald Trump and whatever criminal cabal is supposedly "Joe Biden" really have almost nothing to do with what lies ahead. They are, personally, about as relevant as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny (both of whom are equally as real to little children). The forces behind each of these bozos (as well as the forces at work that are not represented by either), that is a different story. But that is world historical level shit that I can only hope to live long enough to see play out, if only out of curiosity.

I do think there are important men and even women out there--these two are not among them, however. Many are not in politics as it is understood today. Trump is significant for his hardcore followers who, even as gullible as they are, equate to something of significance. There has never been been a hardcore follower of Joe Biden.

PS: I do encourage voting. If you do not vote, you can be easily confused for some bum who just wakes and bakes every day. But how you vote with such a "choice" as afforded to you this year, do as you see fit. There is no "wrong direction."

Apparently there was a shooting at a trump rally. Gotta wonder what that will do to the gun issue.

Supposedly an AR, not exactly the sniper rifle of choice.

ARs are constantly used in such roles.

Also, 200 yards isn't far on a semi-stationary target.

Yeah, didn't know the yardage at the time. Dude should have been content with a body mass impact on his (apparent) first shot, but he apparently wanted a more spectacular impact.

Obviously at that close in, the SS completely failed in its described mission (not commenting on its ACTUAL mission). There is no fucking way anybody should be able to set up on an open rooftop that close in.
