What we know about the police detention of Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill
..... The footage shows a police officer approaching Hill’s car and knocking on the window after he signaled for Hill to pull over. Hill rolls down the window when the officer knocks and replies, “Hey, don’t knock on my window like that.” The officer asks Hill why he doesn’t have a seatbelt on. Hill doesn’t answer and repeatedly says, “Don’t knock on my window like that.”
The officer asks why Hill had his window up and says he had to knock to let Hill know he was there.
“Give me my ticket bro so I can go, I’m going to be late. Do what you got to do,” Hill said before rolling up the window.
The officer tells him to keep his window down and knocks again, but Hill doesn’t appear to respond. The officer knocks again and tells Hill to keep his window down. Hill rolls down his window slightly and responds, “Don’t tell me what to do.”
The officer threatens to make Hill get out of the car if he doesn’t keep the window down, and then immediately after orders him out. Another officer opens Hill’s car door and starts to pull him out of the car, saying, “Get out!” while Hill responds, “I’m getting out.”
Hill is heard saying, “I’m getting out, I’m getting out,” and the same officer says, “Too late.”
Two officers are seen pushing Hill to the ground while another officer stands over. Hill is heard saying, “I’m getting arrested” multiple times, and the one officer physically restraining him says, “When we tell you to do something, you do it. You understand? You understand? Not what you want, but what we tell you. You’re a little f**cking confused.”
“Alright bro, take me to jail, bro do what you gotta do,” Hill says. “We will,” the officer responds.
The time from when the officer first knocks on Hill’s window to when he is fully handcuffed on the ground is around a minute and a half. The officers then move Hill to his feet and have him sit on the sidewalk. As an officer slowly leads him to sit on the ground, Hill says “Hold on, bro. I just had surgery on my knee.” As he is speaking, another officer comes behind him and puts an arm around his chest. He begins to pull Hill toward the ground as Hill repeats, “I just had surgery on my knee.”
The restraining officer says, “Really, what a coincidence. Did you have surgery on your ears when we told you to put the window down?”
“Bro, chill!” Hill yells.
Hill spoke with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Monday, saying everything happened very fast.
“I was following rules, I wasn’t moving fast because you know I got injuries, I got things that I go through. I play a physical sport, I’ve been doing this for a moment now man so I’m dealing with some stuff, so I guess the officers, they felt like I wasn’t doing it on their timing. I was doing it, but I’m still kind of shell-shocked from it,” Hill said. “I’m embarrassed.”
Hill further reflected on the moment that things escalated, saying that it started when officers asked him to roll down his window.
“When the officer came up and knocked on my window, I let my window down, cooperated, gave them my I.D. Then I immediately let up my window, and then after that I let back up my window, and then he came back to the window and was like, ‘Let your window down now, let your window down now’ and then I let it down,” Hill said.
“I’m not trying to cause a scene because … if I let my window down, people walking by, driving by, they’re going to notice that it’s me and they’re going to start taking pictures. I didn’t want to create a scene at all, I just really wanted to get the ticket and then just go out about my way and have a great Sunday.”
The 30-year-old was asked about an earlier quote of his about how the situation could’ve unfolded differently if he wasn’t Tyreek Hill.
“The reality of it is, it’s the truth. If I wasn’t Tyreek Hill, worst-case scenario, we would’ve had a different article. ‘Tyreek Hill got shot in front of Hard Rock Stadium,’ that’s worst-case scenario,” Hill said. “It’s crazy that me and my family had to go through this.”.......

He had complied with the officer's demand for DL, Reg, and Insurance.
He was under no obligation to keep his window rolled down. The officer made his request into an order outside his authority.
He was under no obligation to be polite to the police.
The officer had the authority to order him out of the car for not complying with the request (phrased as an order) to roll his window back down.
The officer had the obligation to be professional even with dealing with an asshole driver.
This is a classic example where two people with large egos collided. The difference is this was all recorded and the driver happened to be a high profile athlete. Both were wrong as hell. Only one is being vilified, though.

I tend to see things from a LE side first but
Police have an obligation to write the ticket in a reasonable amount of time.
They did not.
It wasn't until a supervisor showed up and asked the one of a group of what 5-6 cops that he began writing the ticket 18 minutes after the stop.
These cops got butt hurt because this guy did not kiss their butts and believe they can use violence when none was called for.
At no time did they indicate he was a threat and did not search him at all until after 15 minutes of being pulled out of the car
They were just pissed he wasn't bowing down to their Eric Cartman attitude.
We have all seen traffic stops where the driver is abusive, rude and psycho and the cop remained cool and calm.
These sorry excuse for LEOs were simply jerks and determined to prove it.
In fairness most just stood by and did not participate in acts unbecoming a police officer but those that physically assault the guy should be terminated
That Mclaren was one bad ass car and man did that sound good

Tyreek Hill was speeding and being a dick to cops the only reason we are seeing this is because he's black and an athlete. Had this been anyone else they would have been giving a ticket case closed and the media loves to play the race card every time so over it.
Everybody's got a plan until they get hit.
A police officer friend of mine once told me that when I pull someone over, all the encounters Iv'e had with the public, come into play. Right or wrong that's just how it is.
As I watch videos of police interactions from body cam when pulling people over, I don't know how most of them keep their composure after numerous requests for license, registration and insurance card. The fact of the matter is the general public is bat crap crazy and has a serious attitude problem.
I can't even imagine being in a city like Miami and especially during traffic duty for a football game. I've been to a few games in the past and won't go again because of ignorant, drunken mouth breathers who somehow feel they are God's gift to the world.
Hill couldn't help himself cause he's just another ignorant ghetto rat.

Do drivers need to roll down their windows during a traffic stop?
https://www.aol.com/drivers-roll-down-w ... 40420.html
.... While different states have different rules for drivers' duties during a traffic stop, experts generally agree drivers should roll their window down to communicate with officers.
... “You have to pull over when the lights come on or risk getting a felony flight from law enforcement charge,” said Victor, whose legal issues videos on YouTube include a series titled, “How to Survive a Traffic Stop.”
Once there, lawyers say, you should turn off the car, switch on the car’s dome light if it’s dark outside and place your hands visibly on the steering wheel...
Do I need to roll down my window?
Advice regarding whether drivers should roll down their windows is a mixed bag, but in general it’s best to do so, especially when an officer requests it.
In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, criminal defense law firm Meltzer & Bell says drivers are required to roll down their windows when they are pulled over in order to ensure smooth interaction with law enforcement.
The ACLU recommends drivers roll them down at least far enough to be able to hand over required documents – license, registration and proof of insurance – to the officer.
A blog post on Pittsburgh criminal law firm Worgul, Sarna & Ness' website says that in Pennsylvania, rolling down one’s window is not required but recommended.
“Not only does this help communication,” it says, “but rolling down your window all the way puts the officer at ease and shows them you have nothing to hide.”
If an officer asks you to roll down your window, the firm said, drivers should do so to comply...
Chandler attorney Victor advises drivers to be polite and not to argue or be disrespectful. If the officer asks you to exit the vehicle, exit the vehicle. Arguments over the situation or mistreatment can be handled in court....

This. Frankly, this problem started when we idolized athletes and villanized our law enforcement.lakelandman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 10:50 pm Tyreek Hill was speeding and being a dick to cops the only reason we are seeing this is because he's black and an athlete.
