Page one on Yahoo! News - Victim's girlfriend says Florida gunman provoked fatal "Stand Your Ground" Shooting....
The comments are pretty much universally, "The article is bullshit and the video tells the truth".
True, but who among the sheeples and antis actually read those comments?

I always read Yahoo comments, but then again I may be a sadist.

If that many people though are saying it, it just may be the general pulse of insight into the incident. Play stupid games, etc. Florida has the highest amount of CCW holders in the nation, I just assume everyone is armed.

If the girlfriend said "My boyfriend attacked him and deserved to be shot." it'd be news.

The deeper issue here, beyond the self-defense claim, is that antisocial behavior is tolerated in this state and you can't say anything about it because there is no real "community." Public shaming doesn't work the way it would in a small homogeneous town with similar values. White, black, whatever: trashy people are trashy people and the kind of person who illegally parks in a handicap spot is trash and in this society they would rather try to fight you then be called out on any misbehavior on their part. This old man, for whatever reason, forgot to take this into consideration.

This sort of atomization, combined with racial issues and other stuff, are why we can't have nice things in this country.

hall monitor should have just minded his own business, some people in this world are not anti social, they just don't take shit from anyone, if you walk up to one of them and make a joke about their shoes you might get smacked, this puss went right for his gun, rather that use his fists after his mouth wrote a check his ass couldn't cash, people like that are gonna muck it up for the rest of us....just sayin

he should have kept his mouth shut, the big guy shouldn't have pushed him either, but this is the world we live in

The guy that he killed was arrested before for felonious battery. Not sure if he was convicted, but I did a Google search on the dude. He's a piece of trash. "Hall monitor" is delusional because yeah, this is the world we live in.

The fact that some self-righteous jackass is verbally berating your self-centered woman over her sense of entitlement and disregard for traffic rules does not give you a pass to commit the crime of battery on said jackass. There is a reason that the law doesn't say "meet force with force".

"He deserved to get smacked" hasn't been a valid legal defense for quite some time. He who does the first smacking is the aggressor, plain and simple, barring any evidence that the loudmouth has verbally expressed a credible threat to do bodily harm.

From today's CNN article:
Gualtieri says there's no evidence that Drejka posed a threat to McGlockton's family, it was strictly a verbal argument, but McGlockton did engage in unlawful conduct when he pushed Drejka.

"Markeis wouldn't be dead if Markeis didn't slam this guy to the ground," Gualtieri said.

I don't disagree with you, but a lack of common values and/or a sense of shared responsibility is symptomatic of decline.

This is why we're forced to tolerate blight, panhandling, and all sorts of other ugliness in our cities. Downtown Orlando is like an open air homeless shelter and no one gives a crap about anything.

I agree wholeheartedly, and have no solutions to offer.
Perhaps, "Making America Great Again" might include instilling community values and civility between citizens?
