Stay in the old town. Do not go over the Bridge of Lions or the 312 Bridge to the island and the beaches. Those of us living there are fed up with all the bloody traffic :D :D :D

Seriously, try The Drunken Horse restaurant on Charlotte Street. Newly opened and friends who've eaten there love it. On US 1 South, go to Neds, an old-fashioned family restaurant. On the island (if you must), try happy hour at Cafe 11, between 3 and 7, each day. If you see anyone in a Tottenham hat, say hello to me. Also on the island, Sunset Grille and Playa Chacmool, both on A1A Beach Boulevard.

Enjoy.

Lightner Museum, the old Spanish Quarter (south side of the main drag), the lighthouse, Anastasia Island State Park, and Fort Matanzas (south of town, requires a ferry ride from the park entrance area).

I liked the trolly tour, distillery, old jail and store, and fountain of youth. I found a 2 day trolly tour pass for the wife and I that got us in to all those places.

Years back our friends lived in Jax and they dragged us to the Alligator Farm which the kids liked. Feeding time was pretty cool to watch. We also visited the fort which is impressive.

If you like it, go back at Christmas time. The place is lit up all over the town. Feel like just a laid-back place sit outside at the Bull and Crown on Saint George have a beer and enjoy the people walking by as you enjoy your sandwich.Great food and the fried fish is excellent.

Anastasia Island State Park for the beach, worth the couple of bucks for the added peace and quiet

wanna have some fun, head over to the the night time ghost tour at the lighthouse thing, wait till after it starts, the staff usually takes the money and heads out, pull in the parking lot and wait.....you see, its all pea gravel, now the light house has a small fence around it but its all with in throwing distance of the windows and you can see people walking around in all of the various levels ( floors ), of the lighthouse, best of all, the lights are out and they are using the light on their cell phone looking for  " ghosts " , well chuck an handfull of that pea gravel at the window and watch people freak out, wait a few min and toss a pebble or 2 at another window....hours of entertainment
