There was once a customer who had a CCW since they came out. Bought guns plenty of times. One day, he gets a conditional. Turns out in the mid 80’s, he was stopped on the NJ Tpike, & his car was searched. They do that there near the Deleware Bridge. They found 2 joints of MJ, was arrested, & released. But a few years ago, the small police department cleaned out it’s basement, & all arrest records were entered on the FBI database. So all the FDLE knew was this guy had a MJ arrest. No details. 10 bales, or 1 joint. Once they dug up the records, & found out it was for 2 joints, they gave the approval. But the customer had already picked up the gun after 72 hours. GARY.

Yes. I had this yesterday. A customer with a CCW got a conditional. She figured a 72 hour wait the most, but the guy in charge of paperwork told her she had to wait until it was approved, no matter how long that took. I wasn’t aware the rules had changed. Now I am. GARY.
I have gotten a conditional with a CWP before too, but this was before this new law. The person on the phone said that the info did not sync up some times between the Department of Agriculture and the FDLE. Fixed within a couple days, and he told me that it was a permanent fix.

Revoking a CCW is a lengthy process, nor do they knock on your door and ask for it back. I doubt FDLE checks the DOA CCW database in the course of a BGC.

Back in the day, the CCW holders did not have to do background checks. When the Dept of Agriculture took over the program, background checks became required, but the CCW still meant no waiting period.

Back in the day, when FDLE or some state LE agency issued the CCWs, the CCW holders did not have to do background checks. When the Dept of Agriculture took over the program, background checks became required, but the CCW still meant no waiting period.

Even funnier are the people who have no CWP, & want to trade in a $50 Jiminez, & leave with the new gun. The "trade in" rule went away decades ago. It's purpose was to show you didn't need a gun to use illegally, since you already had one. GARY

ahh NO, its one of the bypasses on the new 3 day wait rule, there is even a selection for it on the drop down menu when running a background check

So you are saying if you have no CWP, but want to buy a new gun, & have an old Saturday night special to trade, you can take the new gun with no wait? GARY.

yep, the new online background check from FDLE makes you select one of the options for the exception to the 3 day wait, the exceptions are FL CWP, LE, corrections or active Mil ( with ID ), trade in, or hunters safety course & valid hunt lic. it also makes you select , firearm sale, pawn redemption or consignment pick up ....I'm guessin you are the salesman not the paperwork guy....all of you guys should be cross trained so you don't pass along mis information and lose a sale.

trade can only be :
handgun for a handgun, or handgun for a long gun
long gun trade for a long gun only
