That's the guy that I don't want to be shooting next to.

That Sucks.
Knights Trail is my favorite local outdoor range, I've been going there for around 11 years.
As everyone else who goes to public ranges, I have seen some unsafe gun handling there, the worst was a very old cat (I'm old, this guy was way older) with a single action revolver so out of control I decided to just leave rather than move down to another location.
And yes I alerted the staff on my way out as to why I was leaving.

I keep my eyes open whenever firearms are loaded around me … handled by strangers, but its always been more than a little reassuring that the Range Officers are very much on the job over there.

Yeah Buster I agree with you, the folks that work there are top notch, which is why I prefer that outdoor range over another, but unfortunately the staff cant be everywhere all the time, it is what it is.
Always be vigilant, keep your eye on who's next to you and watch how they handle their firearms.

Only going on week days (9:00AM to 1:00PM) it is only us old guys at WAC
I feel safer then than on weekends when all the youngsters come out.

I've had guns pointed at me at every public range I've been to.
This one included.
Even at matches when ROing, come to think.
Trust nobody.

I'm the a-hole at the range (loudly) calling out the nim-nods who are sweeping everyone. You'd be safer shooting next to me than anyone. ;)
