This looks like good news. But with him being so anti gun, you’d figure he’d be a perfect fit with the current administration. GARY.

Great news - he would've been a nightmare as ATF Director.
But don't pop the champagne corks just yet.
Chipman was nominated as part of the Democrats' "Fantasy League" of bureaucrats, knowing full well he was a rabid anti-gunner, but what the hell did they have to lose - they hold half the Senate and he just might've gotten through.
Now, ANYONE Biden nominates who hates 2A just as much, but has no baggage and been smart enough to this point not to blatantly support bans and further expansion of ATF's power will look like a pillar of virtue and reason, next to Chipman. The Dems see that, thanks to Biden, the 2022 mid-term election will be a slaughter house for them. If they don't get someone confirmed to head the ATF before then, the gun control leg of their platform is severely weakened.
Stay vigilant, and have your Congress critters on speed dial.

No reason to celebrate. All it means is that they found some other Kommunist that will be even worse.

When a Republican runs to abolish the ATF and DEA, then I'll be happy. Until then it is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. We are about two (DEM) Senators away from having a complete clusterfuck of communism in DC (yes, even worse than now). If and when we ever get a chance to eliminate these two criminal "law enforcement agencies," we should do so. They are tumors waiting to metastasize.
