I've seen him several times (the last time was right before Covid lockdown), and was supposed to see him next month in WPB. An unbelievably funny man, and absolutely fearless.
Here he is 2015, in front of a comedy festival audience (i.e. not a crowd that came for him in particular). He's hysterical, and the fact that the crowd is horrified/terrified makes it even better.

I've just finished one of my frequent GG binge watchings when I learned of his passing. He was my favorite, along with Norm Macdonald. Something's definitely wrong with the cosmos. RIP.

If he did that today, he'd be outcast, cancelled, and probably charged with a hate crime.

Yes I did. That one is one of many of his classic rants. I'd been searching YT for one that I saw decades ago in which GG muses at the tense atmosphere on the set of the movie Deliverance on the day that Ned Beatty's pig-squealing scene was scheduled to be shot. That was my introduction to GG and I could hardly believe what I was hearing. Lol.

Didn't they try to "cancel" him a bit earlier on for one of his routines, or was it this one (with George Takei)? IIRC, he had to give up the AFLAC gig as a result.

AFLAC was a result of a some tweets he made after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in 2011.

I think his unique voice is what helped make him so hysterical. I wonder if he did that for his show or if that is how he really spoke off stage?
Funny - no mention on the news... Must have been cancelled.
