How do they get away with this?

Seems the NYPD has an entire division devoted to the Jewish community, their own patrols and I presume "laws".. Seems like the "good ol' boy" method.... Not being anti-Semitic, just raising questions.... If Jewish folks can do this then why can't Muslims? Actually I think they do... Anyway, have a look when you get the chance; I am interested in hearing your thoughts.

It has nothing to do with patrols or laws, it is a fraternal and charitable organization made up of Jewish members.

Shomrim are a private organization and not part of the NYPD, although they are very well connected within the NYPD and city government.
They were also on the environs of the big scandal in the pistol license division of the NYPD:

Read the whole post you linked to and nowhere is Shomrim even mentioned.
