Greetings all,
I could use a little help. My son got transferred to just north of Orlando. Opening day at grandma's house is the weekend weekend of the 17th. He has a couple of things that should be sighted in before the trip. With moving etc. he hasn't been able to take care of business. I'm looking for someplace that either has an indoor 50 yard range capable of taking shotgun slugs and a rifle or an outdoor range somewhere around say Altamonte. The best alternative for me is to go up there next Sunday. If any one has any suggestions it would be gratefully accepted.
Yes, they grow up, leave home, get a job, etc. but somehow they are still our kids.

Near Little Ponce (aka. Altamonte Springs), the closest gun ranges would be from Shoot Straight: one in Apopka, the other in Casselberry

p.s. Recommended open gun ranges "near by" would be SCGAA in Geneva (east Seminole county), and Teneroc in Lakeland (Polk county).

Shoot Straight in Apopka may have a 50 yard range, I think they did a few years back when I went. I don't think the Altamonte Shoot Straight does, I think the longest they have is 25 yards.

THANKS TO ALL!!!! Now all we need is a little decent weather ( that only means please no rain at 33 degrees) and an opportunity. It's funny because I love venison and we usually come back with some but I tried to explain to an acquaintance that a large part of the trip revolves around the chance to sit quietly and watch all the little critters and listen to the breeze. We butcher our own harvest and the gathering of family and friends after dark is another good part. I think we have lost a part of the socialization of young men when we lost the sense of sharing skills and tales and perhaps a drink with youth.

I guess if you've never done it, it doesn't compute.
