Maryland’s ‘Red Flag’ Law Turns Deadly: Officer Kills Man Who Refused To Turn In Gun

FERNADALE, Md. (WJZ) — A 61-year-old man is dead after he was shot by an officer trying to enforce Maryland’s new ‘red flag’ law in Ferndale Monday morning.

Anne Arundel County Police confirmed the police-involved shooting happened in the 100 block of Linwood Avenue around 5:17 a.m.


According to police, two officers serving a new Extreme Risk Protective Order (Red Flag Law), a Maryland protective order to remove guns from a household, shot and killed the man listed on that order.

“Under the law, family, police, mental health professionals can all ask for the protective orders to remove weapons,” said Sgt. Jacklyn David, with Anne Arundel County Police.

That man was identified as Gary J. Willis of same address.

Officials said Willis answered the door while holding a handgun.

Willis then placed the gun next to the door.

When officers began to serve him the order, Willis became irate and grabbed his gun.

One of the officers tried to take the gun from Willis, but instead Willis fired the gun.

The second officer fired a gun, striking Willis. He died at the scene.

No police officers were injured and others inside the house were unharmed.

Police continue to investigate the shooting. At this time it’s not clear who called police to alert them about Willis.

Anne Arundel County Police have only had nine “red flag” calls so far.

Now my question did they not try to pass that here in Florida. That really sucks and yes if incidents like this continue to happen. Loved ones killed because their Constitutional rights are being violated. People will only be pushed so far.

To say that all AMERICAN PATIOTS would just lay down their arms and accept the loss of their Constitutional rights. Well is nonsense. Yes PATIOTS do not riot, pillage, burn, attack innocient AMERICANS in the street when things do not go their way does not mean they are weak. It means they are keeping track and believing and waiting for the next election.

But when you have treacherous POLITICAL LEADERS and their party seeking to over throw elections. Inciting riots, attacks ect....we've got a serious problem.

No PATRIOTISM is about believing in the CONSTITUTION and BILL OF RIGHTS and change through elections. But if you push Patriotic Americans too far and they do decide to stand up.

You will see what's called in the US RANGERS ELEGANT VIOLENCE ORAGANIZED CHAOS THROUGH DISCIPLINE. because there have been thousands upon thousands that have prepared for such an event. They are well organized, equipped and networked.

Not like these unorganized idiots that march through the streets chanting, attacking innocient AMERICANS and so forth.

They violate and basically suspended the 4th admendment. Remember what Hillary said. The BILL OF RIGHTS can and should be regulated, which is nothing more than a work around to violating it and the 2nd ADMENDMENT. What next....no warrants needed at all for ANYTHING. Just somebodies word

Just like what's happening in broward county. The Supervisor of Elections is refusing to follow an order issued by a Judge and open doors to Republican over sight. This woman has been caught in the past violating election laws. They are actually openly violating election laws and judge orders to through an election to a DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST EXTREMISTS PARTY

With that kind of behavior it looks like someone made the proper call on him. I'm sorry that this happened but in reality he made his choice, probably knowing what would happen.
