...it didn't have a case before it.
Today the USSC issued a ruling that greatly reigns in the ability of Federal agencies to issues "rules" to "fill in the gaps" of "vague" federal statutes. This case did not involve the ATF, but the ATF has been the greatest abuser of this tactic.
Combined with federal bump-stock ruling a couple of weeks ago, this means that, for example, the ATF braced pistol stock "rule" is dead dead dead in the water. If Merrick Garland had any principles, he'd stop wasting tax dollars trying to save it immediately, but he's a communist piece of shit, so he'll keep going. But it is done.
Fuck you Merrick, and fuck the ATF.
