Anyone tried one of the above. Don’t need it but thinking about getting into black powder a bit more. Do these need to be shipped through a FFL?

I am not into black power, but my BIL is and he said that no FFL transfer are required for them.

No FFL needed.

As far as the gun, I prefer a TC Encore to any other modern muzzleloader.

Totally agree. I've had both types ML and always preferred the Encore Pro Hunter for ML hunting.
They do require FFL unless you buy private though.

Ya an Encore will cause you could use a modern cartridge barrel….

appreciate the feedback. Will keep an eye out for either the Encore or the Remington 700. I don't really NEED either but might be fun. My son was recently given a pb pistol and I have a Ruger old army that I was fortunate enough to have acquired a few years ago.
