Trans shop in West Palm Beach?
Trans blew on my 05 Impala. Anyone know of a reliable shop in West Palm Beach that won’t rape me? Used to have the trans tech at work do it for $125, plus parts [$40] but those days are gone. If it’s too high, I’ll just buy another car. Any out there? GARY.
The guys at the Aamco on 10th Ave and Military in Lake Worth have always done solid by me, but I honestly don't think $125 or around that is gonna happen. I usually go there for all my car shit because they don't try to cheat me.N4KVE wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 10:03 pm Trans blew on my 05 Impala. Would that be 3426 S Military Trail. Only one I see when I google AAMCO Lake Worth. GARY.
Yup. My bad, I don't know why I wrote Southern, I was thinking Military.
Sorry, I'm an idjit.

Average transmission rebuilt is 1k.
Called 5 shops in WPB. All said $2000-$2500. Since the car in top shape is worth $1500, I said no. $1000 I’d go for, but no more. They were all amazed I got 190,000 miles from the original tranny. Bummer, since the motor is perfect, & the A/C is ice cold. Bought a 2010 Crown Vic instead with 82,000 miles. But I got 7 good years out of the Impala. GARY.
Man, everything really is going up. I would have tried to find a new used transmission to put in its place, like I did with my Blazer's engine.N4KVE wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 9:55 pm Called 5 shops in WPB. All said $2000-$2500. The problem is all the 4T65E transmissions these FWD GM cars use are time bombs ready to die. We’re not talking GM Turbo 400’s here. GARY.

Automatic transmissions can be the most complicated part of the car.
Was that $1200 price from "Midnight Auto Parts?"
