Need 1911 mechanic
I received my nephew in law’s 1911 today when he was here and it has broken it’s third barrel link PIN. (Not the link)
I need a 1911 mechanic that can fix what is causing this, in the Brooksville, Inverness, Bushnell area. When it breaks the same pin three times something is wrong. I work on Smith and Wesson revolvers but never fooled with 1911’s. Not wanting to spend a fortune. Just want to correct the problem; whatever it is.
The gun is a Rock Island Armory and looks to be an older one.

Quite awhile ago, Tom at Guntalk was interviewing the head honcho at Rock Island.
He said the older 1911s did have a number of quality control issues.
He finally hired a 1911 expert to straighten things out.
And apparently the newer ones run just fine.
But the earlier ones with problems might need more than a quick fix.
For details the interview is probably archived on the Guntalk podcast page.

I would call RIA and talk to someone there. I heard in the past they had good customer service. Not sure if that was/is still true.

Everybody's got a plan until they get hit.

I dropped it off with Rentprop1 right after he offered to look at it. He has a busy shop and said it would take awhile to get to it. Have not heard any more.
