A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools !
There are two sides to the coin here. The RF laws were brought into effect after the MSD shooting because of a nutjob with a gun that was a danger to himself or others. You can decide on your own if you think that he "shouldn't have a gun" or "shall not be infringed!" The FBI screwed up and he passed his NICS check when he shouldn't have. Even if he hadn't, he easily could have jumped on a message board, found an AR for sale and bought it from someone legally.
I'll share you a case I have some personal knowledge of: disgraced former fireman with a drug and alcohol problem gets suicidal (again) and a concerned loved-one calls the local PD to do a welfare check on him. He comes out of his house with a pistol, goes back inside and barricades. Two officers go to the back of the house and shine a light at one of the windows, and he takes a potshot out the window at the cops. 20 minutes later, he does it again. Ultimately he is talked out of the house and arrested. Would you want this man to keep his firearms, or do you think the judicial system (NOT the police) have a right to take them?
The design of the RF laws is that a JUDGE has the right to limit someone's 2nd amendment if there is a reasonable belief (not suspicion) that someone is a danger to others. Suicidal doesn't cover it. The facts get presented to a judge and they make their ruling, leaving the local PD To effect the order. It's in place for a year.
Can these RF laws get abused by liberal judges that are anti-gun? I would think so, but I'm not familiar with any cases of this happening yet. I do acknowledge a "yet" there. Unfortunately, while I think there are some folks that should have some restrictions placed upon their firearm ownership, I also don't like the potential slippery slope of gun confiscation. It's a good debate, especially from folks from both sides of the aisle.

if anyone doesn't think any judge will not hesitate to rubber stamp any "Red Flag" order that comes near him/her/they/zer you are insane. Look no further than one of the most powerful courts in the country issued no less than five orders against a billionaire running for the presidency. All under completely factious, made up lies, backed up by corrupt agents and other political pawns. If they can screw him like this, they will crush you like a bug and it will be your sole responsibility to prove yourself innocent.

Look at post by ps5 guy. He's worried to even handle a problem about DH LEO neighbors because he feels they could some how turn him in under the red flag laws.
So now we have people living in fear of losing their rights for reporting neighbors that happen to work in L.E. Afraid of retaliation. Which is not unheard of.
PINELLAS county is about as anti gun as you can get. They tried passing their own gun laws there. Alot of officers do not believe civilians should have guns. The ones I've spoken with anyways.
I do not believe his fear is unjustified. Because we all know who's word carries the most weight in court simply because they carry a badge and would never Lie. Plus liberal judges would never use this law as a means to further their anti gun beliefs.
This law is ripe for corruption

You may have gotten rid of her but all it takes is a neighbor or someone close to you to make that call and you are done. Actually all she needed to do before the RFL was to file a domestic violence claim against you and "by by guys", ammo and anything else THEY consider a weapon. Then YOU need to go hire an attorney to fight in order to get them back, they don't just hand them back to you. OH and if you think you are 1/2 slick and figure you will just buy other ones you are blackballed from that also... Did I ALSO mention they suspend your CWP while the whole mess gets straightened out?flcracker wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 6:44 pm I am so relieved to have gotten divorced before this shit became law. The phony domestic violence &/or sexual assault claim was already in her playbook - I'm convinced that she was just waiting for the right time. Had red flag laws been in the books 18 months ago, I have no doubt that she would have used it against me.

This is the most corrupted law ever passed. It is so open to abuse by the government it's not funny. There are people right here on this forum living in fear of exwifes, relatives, neighbors just about everybody.
To say that all it takes is someone to even insinuate anything against you without you even have done anything. Broken no laws.
Then a corrupted liberal SOCIALIST JUDGE get's the case in front of him. Your screwed, because we've all seen how a judge can and had created their own laws based on their ideas and beliefs. Not the actual laws. Same with L.E.O.s and DEPTS.
This law has been abused and INNOCIENT people have been killed for refusing to turn over their guns. People who've never been arrested or commented a crime in their life. All based on the word of who. Someone that may not like them, they've made mad or just does not like guns. Say like a new neighbor who over heard you talking and misinterpreted what you were talking about.
It all depends on the officers that respond weather they are pro or anti gun and the same with judge. Weather he follows the law or his beliefs and ideas in other words. The judge is a LIBERAL SOCIALIST EXTREMISTS DEMOCRAT that hates guns and believe no one should have them. This is the perfect weapon for him.
Those that say it's not are IDIOTS with their heads stuck...........UTA
