I've done it. My wife has done it (on separate occasions). The folks downstairs were just as surprised as we were! Fortunately, they didn't shoot...
And it happened to us (although we're smart enough to keep the door locked).

Manslaughter maybe...not murder.
She did "intentionally" intend to neutralize the threat as she thought he was an intruder.
But she never "intended" to kill as required for a murder charge.
Hopefully she'll get that thrown out on appeal.
This is one time I agree with Joe.
She didn't commit a crime. She made a HUGE (and tragic) mistake due to poor training & not being suited for the job.
Is she and her department civilly liable? Sure. Sue them into the Stone Age. Was she criminally liable? Maybe Involuntary manslaughter, but murder? No.
There will be appeal(s).

Did you hear the victim’s family attorney’s news conference? I heard it on the radio and he’s, in a preacher type voice, saying “this one is for Trevon, etc. He was rattling off the names of all recent LEO involved shootings.
