Shipping Primers

Post by Bill2e »

I have 5,000 Small Rifle Primers to ship - all in original packaging.

I now know that I can not ship and just pay a hazmat fee.

Does anyone know of a shop in North Florida that is certified to ship primers and would do so for a fee?

Anot an answer, but, one may ship ammo via UPS with correct labels, but one may not ship primers?

That is correct. It also applies to smokeless powder. Only a certified Hazmat shipper can ship these items.

Seems pretty odd doesn't it?
You can ship a "live round"(primer, brass, powder & bullet, all situated & set to be ignited) with no hazmat fee.
However the primers alone require one.

You can take a course (expensive) and become certified to ship hazmat but for once in a while shipping not worth it

Correct, you can not take it to someone and have them ship it for you

Sell it local (gun show) advertise it here for local pickup or list it on Gunbroker no shipping local pickup only

Those are your (legal) options

There are some who sell on GB and ship USPS.
Please note that carries a $250,000.00 fine and up to 10 years in prison

whatever you do, do not write hazmat code on the outside... like 1.4C....

I wonder how this would apply to primed cases? I imagine it would be the same as loaded ammo.

No hazmat fee on primed cases. I don't recall if they have to be marked ORMD.

Okay, looked it up, it is the same as small arms cartridges.
