What’s happening to my dog?!

Third time this year my dog has those bloody and puss’y scabs. In the past vet said it’s allergy and to give allergy meds and antibiotic. Next time it happened we did the same per vets suggestion but he said if it comes back to only give her allergy meds next time. So it came back a week ago and that’s what I did. Now it’s worse it’s ever been. The entire top of her head and neck is covered in scabs and open wounds. In the past squeezing them released puss just like acne but it didn’t bother her. This time she cried when I ran my finger gently over it and a large scab with hair came off. I will start her on antibiotics tonight but WTH is going on? She’s an otherwise healthy 2.5 year old dog. Hasn’t been in dog parks this whole year, only plays in backyard and on walks. We have been using the same food and shampoo pretty much her whole life and it never caused issues before. It happened in Jan, Aug, and again a week ago. Should I find a different vet? Help!

Try another vet. Just like human docs, there are veterinary specialists. You might find an allergy specialist.

Never took my dog to CS Animal Hospital, I heard very bad things about it. her vet is located in Boca west of Turnpike on Glades Rd.

I dont know if it's insect bites or not, that's why I'm asking though you're the second person who suggested it today... someone else told me it could be spider bites... I dono

Course of Antibiotics and Perhaps steroids would go a long way, this time of year canine allergies usually on the down trend? we are here if you need us, PM.

does not look like insect bite, if you have a few teaspoons of colloidal silver, in the water cannot hurt either, if allergies 1 MG benedryl per Pup Lb. Just thinking out loud.

If your dog is also suffering from a condition known as “rat tail” (google photos of it) its probably a thyroid deficiency. My dog had the hot spots like yours but the rat tail was the main indication of a thyroid problem. He now takes 2 pills a day and his skin is perfect. Btw, the thyroid pills are not expensive. Good luck!

Btw here she is, the whole 78 pounds of her lol... rescue agency told us she’s gonna be no more than 30. 35 tops! Lol. But we love her! And a bigger dog is better with kids anyway... she can take rough’er play like a champ without being an ankle biter

As others have said, try antibiotics, steroids, and a new vet.

Try to find a vet to do allergy testing. Unfortunately, in FL, dogs can be allergic to many vectors:
>the industrially processed foods we give them (try phasing to a different brand, or seeing if she reacts differently to poultry based vs non poultry based chow)
>pollen and everything in the air
>bacteria, pollen, or bugs in our dirt
