Court-packing and ending the filibuster are not likely to happen with this Senate. Manchin and maybe Tester are not going to play ball on those.
But, as always, there is another election in less than 2 years--20 GOP seats, 14 Democrats. Among those 20, Wisconsin and NC will have retiring GOP senators and are states very much in play. I wouldn't count on Rubio's seat in FL, either.
It wouldn't take much in 2022 for the Dems to be able to spare a couple of defectors.
Senate and Race
“Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.”
A lot will depend on the political games. If the demos try anything radical, they might lose the House in 2022. Sure, the repubs won't be able to control appointments (judges), but it would stop the radical agenda. Of course, if the demos are clever, they won't try anything extreme the first 2 years. The metaphor of "Crossing the Rubicon" is bandied about, and I hate the thought of our destinies being a crap-shoot, but there it is.
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.
I think the 50/50 stops them. But if they pick up more in 2022, all bets are off. Of course the economy in 2022 will be key.REDinFL wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:58 am A lot will depend on the political games. If the demos try anything radical, they might lose the House in 2022. You must be assuming Biden/Harris will do such a great job in bringing back the economy and bring right and left together all cuddly like for that to happentector wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:20 pm But, as always, there is another election in less than 2 years--20 GOP seats, 14 Democrats. Personally I believe Biden will be a train wreck and the GOP will take both houses in 2022
Yeah, but before that train wreck crashes, they'll 25th Amendment Joe and put Kamala in charge. She'll be the "freight train" that gets her whole socialist agenda done.Wulfmann wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:54 pmYou must be assuming Biden/Harris will do such a great job in bringing back the economy and bring right and left together all cuddly like for that to happentector wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:20 pm But, as always, there is another election in less than 2 years--20 GOP seats, 14 Democrats. The GOP lost the House (and now Senate) under Trump. I wish things were that simple. 20/14 is not a good ratio.Wulfmann wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:54 pmYou must be assuming Biden/Harris will do such a great job in bringing back the economy and bring right and left together all cuddly like for that to happentector wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:20 pm But, as always, there is another election in less than 2 years--20 GOP seats, 14 Democrats. Anyone who has been paying attention since 2001 can see where the political currents are taking us, and it’s no place good.
There is the strong possibility that we have seen the last Republican President for a generation, going forward.
We should have learned from our experiences in the last century, but the whole damn world has gone—literally—dumb.
All hail the New Socialism...same as the Old Socialism.

Florida is likely next.tector wrote:The problem is more and more states are going commie--in just the past few years we have seen Colorado, Virginia and now Georgia flipping. Liberal influx bringing their shit politics.
Oh shit. Ya -- black people voted. What has the world come to. Maybe you should make us count jellybeans in a jar again. It is a shame that... checks lists of freedoms republicans clam to like... you're so upset that black people voted this year. Seems like a democratic republic at work.
