Rpk trunnion oversize issue

Post by Medic0079 »

So i have a 3 sized trunnion on a romanian rpk build and only have a regular size barrel. Cant afford an oversize (nor find for that matter) is there anything i can do to make this work? I was thinking about putting some knurling on the barrel as i heard there has been some success with this but will the pinning alone ensure the barre doesnt move long term? Is it super bad form to put a couple tig tacks on the front of the trunnion where the barrel meets once the barrel is headspaced and pinned? I cant find a romanian rpk trunnion anywhere or i would just order that.

I had a barrel that was kinda loose fitting once.

I just, for lack of better words, “purposefully stuck” it with my stick welder. Enough to leave small deposits (steel herpes) on the barrel and make it a little tighter.

Is yours “hot dog down a hallway” loose? Can you install by hand?

All the way in?

Some barrels have a slight taper to them for the first 1/2” or so, that’s not always abnormal.

You can try knurling it. I’m sure it would be fine. So long as the pin is clean and tight.

If you’ve built 30 of them, I’m sure you won’t have a problem with this one. It’s easy enough to knurl it and try.
