Life's too short to play with cheap guns and surplus ammo...
- I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you... -
Watching that video and him explaining that the ammo was 50 years plus old. The ammo was already showing signs of issues and he wasn't checking the spent shells for pressure issues. Then add the questionable action on that gun, it resembled a heavy duty flare gun. If I'm not mistaken proof tester actions should stand up to at least one round of double normal pressure.
Now those other hot rounds probably started straightening out the threads on the cap and fatigued the reciever lugs but christ on a bike I know I wouldn't shoot something like that.
Never shoot sabots with a muzzle break!
That was his biggest mistake.
He is very lucky to be alive.
Finally, if you want to shoot 50 BMG, get a real rifle, at least an AR50.

I've never heard this greg, where does your recommendation come from?
I could swear we shot sabots with brakes in the army, really searching my memory right now to recall.

I bet we've all done that (but without a kaboom ) One of my first rifles was a Chinese SKS.

I had a "friend of a friend" show up one day (many years ago) to do some work for me and the dude is wearing an eye-patch. His Chinese AK (SKS?) blew up in his face, took out his eye.Springfield wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:56 pmI bet we've all done that (but without a kaboom ) One of my first rifles was a Chinese SKS.

Relative. I shoot surplus exclusively when I shoot my WW2 rifles. I give them visual inspections first, but I haven't had an issue yet.Tenzing_Norgay wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 11:41 pm Life's too short to play with cheap guns and surplus ammo...
