He won't sign it.

Under the State Constitution, the bill becomes law one of three ways. It is sent to him after he requests it for review and signs it.. It is sent to him after he requests to review it and he does nothing (neither signs it or vetoes it) and it becomes law automatically after seven days. Or he never requests it is sent to him for review and it automatically becomes law after 60 days of passing the Legislature.

I spoke with Jon Gutmacher about this yesterday and we both agreed that the Governor doesn't want to be attached to this bill in any way. Hence why he never requested it for review, which means he never signs it and he is never connected to it.

Basically, we agree that the Governor is viewing gun rights as a third rail that he doesn't want to touch. Why? Because he wants to appeal to Center Leftists and Big Government
Authoritarians and win 2022 and 2024.

So far, he is limp on 2A issues and will be as such until we, gun owners make noise politically.

It was passed April 27, 2021 by the Legislature. Under the state constitution, it becomes law on June 26, 2021. That is when the 60 days end.

I was not aware you could not carry in church if said church allowed it. I know of churches that allow people who have cwl to carry..

Was there a law against people carrying their CCW in church if allowed.

Oh wait does this have something to do with schools/daycares on church property. Cool

If any religious institution has a school, they are a gun free zone automatically under current state law. If any religious institution offers a daycare service, they're a gun free zones. Same if they rent/lease space from a school for services.

The legislative leadership has finally signed off and is sending the bill to the Governor.

I fear it was probably a much easier one for him to sign (and then say he did something "Pro-2A") then to push for and sign the "Red flag law repeal" or "2A Sanctuary" or "Constitutional Carry/OC." That's my wish list in that order:

1) Repeal Red Flag law;
2) Implement 2A Sanctuary;
3) Constitutional Carry/OC.
