I was only 14 when South Vietnam fell. I remember seeing the CBS Evening News and old Cronkite started the broadcast STANDING in front of a map of South Vietnam. Standing Cronkite? Whoa, this had to be serious.
It is hard to compare such things, but this was even more swift and clusterfucked--we got almost no one out whom we promised to get out. We all knew this would end badly, but it has ended even more badly than I imagined. Just shamefully handled by The Mummy and his administration.

Yes I agree. I also see Iran hostage 2.0 except Afghanistan now. What did they say? Hundreds or thousands of Americans trapped behind Taliban lines outside of airport. What did the ignorant fools in Washington tell them to do. Shelter in place. How the F do you shelter in place in a situation like that. Knowing they will be coming for you.
This is not a damn storm you can wait out. Those Americans are as good as gotten.
And make no mistake they will come for them and probably already have gotten some of them.
The only difference is Iran did not murder, mutilate, chop..no cut off heads while victims screamed. Remember Pearl and what they did to him. No to mention rape the American women to death.
