Selleck's publicist, Annette Wolf, confirmed to The Trace that he stepped down, saying that his participation had been minimal: "He has nothing to do with policy. He's never been active on the board or anything the NRA engages in. He's almost always been a silent board member." She followed that up with a statement saying, "Tom Selleck has stepped down from the board of the NRA due to his work schedule. Mr. Selleck remains a member of the NRA."
Then why the fuck was he there?

Its SOP for organizations like the NRA to put notables like Selleck on their boards - all they need to do is go to some minimal number of meetings. In his case production schedules probably interfered with that - he's still starring in Blue Bloods, season 9 starting, is 73 years old and now writing his autobiography.

Hate to say this but he's not in the greatest of health.

I'm not surprised he's cutting back

I just read an article that says he wants to write and produce another Jesse Stone movie but because of Blue Bloods doesn't have the time. Selleck was honest enough to resign from the NRA board instead of being a permanent non-attendee.
