What is One Drive and can I delete it?

Post by Wulfmann »

My Laptop says One drive is 95% full and I need to rent space from Microsoft to continue to sync files.

I do not know what they mean and I never asked to sync files or care to.

But is this something I must keep or it messes up W10 and if so how do I reduce the files synced.
I have removed 95% of all files in what is the One Drive folder but it seems the 95% refers to storage in the cloud.
One Drive says it is 5GB and I have about 1/2 GB of files in my One drove folders

Is my laptop depended on the cloud to function? If so I had no idea

Can I do something to reduce those files in the cloud?

Move as many of the files you do not need often access to onto a thumb drive. Then delete them off the laptop.

Move the files anywhere on the laptop from the one drive then disable it I had problems with it myself and always have it off after the last snafu.
Everybody's got a plan until they get hit.

I have moved files to C-Drive.
I would like to understand what One drive before I disable it.
I believe I can shut off various parts of it under sync your settings since it is requesting I need more space to sync files
Is that sync settings the One Drive?

It's pretty simple actually....

One Drive = storing your data on someone else's computer

The tutorial explains how to use One Drive. It does not say anything about how to get rid of it and not have it default stuff to what is essentially Microsoft's server
