Florida will go Democrat... Demographics don't lie
After the two bozos the Libertarians ran in 2016, I don't have much faith in that party. Gary Johnson is not a bad man, but he came off very.. sophomoric. His running mate is an anti gun nutter though.

Totally agree and excellent point. They have to present a solid candidate before they can ever hope to get anybody to listen to them—including me.Skoll wrote:After the two bozos the Libertarians ran in 2016, I don't have much faith in that party. Even with a solid candidate the Libertarians don't have a chance. 3rd parties, since the Civil War, have been no more than spoilers. The last time a new 3rd party won anything it depended on the Whigs, American Party and Free Soil parties combining into the Republicans and the Democrats splitting North and South on the Popular Sovereignty controversy. Nothing like that has happened since 1860.
The best way for Libertarians to have an impact is via the Republicans, especially since the Democrats have gone Socialist, but that means keeping your ego in check and working your way up from the bottom, not starting out as the biggest frog in the tiny Libertarian pond.

Poll of Puerto Ricans in Florida has good news for Dems and for Gov. Scott
57 percent of surveyed Puerto Ricans in Florida said they were most likely to vote for Democratic candidates. Just 7 percent said they were most likely to vote for Republican. The poll has some positive signs for Gov. Rick Scott, the GOP candidate challenging U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.
An estimated 1.2 million Puerto Ricans now live in Florida, a population that rivals the number of Cubans, who have historically been enormously influential in Florida politics, said Eduardo Gamarra, a political science professor at Florida International University. The vast majority live in the Interstate 4 corridor, with 61 percent in the Orlando area and 22 percent in Tampa Bay. Miami-Dade and Broward counties were home to 17 percent.

Wasnt Rand Paul (Or was it his father?) a Libertarian?
I voted for Rand in the primaries. I didn't mind his outlook on things.

Some people think reducing the size and scope of government is crazy.
Some people think using our military capabilities for defense at home instead offense in foreign lands is crazy.
Some people think letting individuals decide what to put into their bodies is crazy.
Some people think keeping all the money they earn and deciding how much and to whom they give it to is crazy.
Some people think the idea of private property, wherein the owner decides how the property is used, is crazy.
I could go on about how people think it is crazy to allow supposedly “free†citizens of the United States to think and act in their own interests and not the government’s, or other people’s, interests, but that would just be too crazy for some people to consider.
In the sprit of fairness, I was one of those people who thought the government was entirely necessary in order to regulate society down to the last person. But my, what a little self-education does to free one’s mind from the destructive nature of collectivism.

It already has gone Democrat, some people just refuse to accept it.
