Glock 19 mag question
Hi,
Back story, I'm driving my 'cycle from northern Virginia back to So Fla. I haven't been able to find a way to bring a carry gun (HellCat) to Virginia. Not allowed to carry up on Amtrak, and not allowed to ship/pickup without a Virginia ID.
So, my friend in Virginia says she has a lightly used, early gen Glock 19 that she doesn't use due to unreliability. She says multiple people have shot it all with malfunctions. But she'll let me use it as carry back to Fla if I want.
I'm a Beretta guy and know nothing about Glocks.
Glocks are known to be very reliable, so my instinct is probably a bad mag. But due to time constraints I can't deal with it there, so want to pick up a spare mag here, ship it to her, and have it waiting when I get there next week.
So the question is, will ANY Glock 15 rnd mag fit in an old, early gen and fit / function? I guess we're up to gen 5 now. I don't want to show up with a gen 5 mag for a gen 1 gun.

I'll tell you what rule we applied sir.
We applied rule 303.
We caught them and we shot them under rule 303!

Gen 4 mags will interchange with all previous GLOCK generations.
When everything that comes out of your piehole is politics, politics, politics... YOU have a problem
Gen 5 mags will work with previous Gens.
I would replace the recoil spring assembly as well and maybe even before I’d worry about the mags.
Glocks are actually very easy to work on/replace parts.
Shouldn’t take much to make it reliable really.

A Glock 19 that's unreliable, very unusual. Definitely try another magazine - I use Factory Glock or Magpuls and never a problem
As an aside, since ownership would not be changing you could lawfully ship your current carry gun to your destination address in VA.
People do it all the time to avoid checking firearms when flying. Since you are sending it to yourself, there is no need for an ID since there is no transfer involved.

Its been a long time.
FYI: my older son's wedding was in VA. It was an easy process to get the VA out of state carry permit.
I can't remember exactly how long but definitely reasonable.

They said if it was a long gun OK, but NOT a pistol. NADA, NIET, VERBOTEN.

No time to deal with it. Only a weeks notice for my trip north, many things to do, and only a day and a half there before begin drive south.
Already booked onto Amtrak Auto Train northbound.
I just bought a new mag and cheap holster for her Glock.
I'll give it a good clean, oil and inspect.
Buy a box of ammo there to load up for return trip

I have a new recoil spring assembly for a Gen 2, 3 G19 (there was no Gen 1 G19).
If you would like it just PM me your address and I’ll send it to you priority mail.
You just pay me for the shipping.
This could be the problem with the gun…

Thx for the offer.
At this point it's to late to mail before trip.
Maybe when I get back and have time to deal with it.
She's told me she'll be fine with me making it reliable and selling it for her.
She wants to go back up to full size for house gun, not the smaller carry.
