Full implant teeth (not dentures). If you did it please share

I believe I can not continue throwing money at my 73 year old mouth and ever hope to be happy with my teeth so have started looking into having all my teeth removed and replaced by full top and bottom implanted permanent teeth

One place (D5) charges $35,000.00 (on occasion $31500 on sale) a local one (Affordable Dentures and implants) charges $38,000. but in December is 20% off so $30,400.

What did you pay and what was your experience both doing it (3 visits) and are you glad you did it afterwards?

Anyone have it done in Costa Rica (Panama, etc)?

Hate to spend that much money but I can so is it worth it?

Please share your experience for all of us considering this

My wife has 7 implants individual teeth . Expensive but worth it me im considering Costa Rican dental my neighbor just had all of his done and it was about 18,000

I'm a poor man and had to go with dentures,but I'd like to have the implants.I'm a problem/dangerous patient and always had to be sedated,will they do the same with implants ?

My friend had the full set (all on 4, I believe they call it.) He loves it and says that he wishes he'd have done it years ago.

Casual is correct about tourism. Columbia is a big draw for this. However, Mexico is the way to go from what I hear. There are some Doctors in El Paso that you see first for the pre work. When it is time, they take you across the border and get the work done. Afterwards, they bring you back to the US where they do the aftercare. From what I heard, you can get a full set done from under $15k. There are some retirement communities in St. George Utah that organize trips to Mexico as well. Might want to look around.

As a retired dentist, and having done a few of these cases, I can tell you that none of these cases are ever straightforward or without complications. It's a lot of prep, culminating in one very stessful appointment (for the dentist) where you HOPE that everything fits. If it doesn't fit, there is the tendency to MAKE it fit. Problems will manifest later(failing implants, fracture of the restoration,etc.) if the case was made to fit, adjusted heavily, and ultimately hammered into place. These cases always require a lot of adjustments and maintenance for them to last. If you have it done in a foreign country, good luck having your neighbourhood dentist here in the US do that for you. In the past, I have been reluctant to adjust or remedy cases done in a foreign country, and have instead referred these patients back to the original restoring dentist. I never wanted to be in the position of another dentist saying I screwed up their work.
I would not have this done at Aspen Dental. The dentists are recent graduates, inexperienced, overconfident in their abilities. The turnover is high, so there is a good chance that you may not see the same dentist as you progress through treatment.

Implant dentures should be an absolute LAST resort. You will be much happier if you can retain a few natural teeth and do a partial or a bridge.

Costwise, it would run about $ 25,000 to $30,000 per arch, when done by a reputable oral surgeon and restorative dentist. Half the fee would be surgical, half would be for the restorative treatment.

My dentist himself told me if anyone ever needs to do full implants just go to Colombia.
At least the people he knows have top of the line equipment and have been trained here in US with him and other specialists.

Having talked to Costa Rica yesterday it seems the first visit is at least one week there then 4-6 months later the final is another 2 weeks so over 20 days of hotel expenses, travel food etc.

Prices have become much more competitive in the US in the last few years (because of foreign competition?).
It used to be $50-60,000.00 for full mouth now it is $30-35,000. I believe advancements in tech have also lowered cost

Foreign clinics are in the $15-18 range but I also notice that is plus many things like bone graphs so could go over $20K plus travel/stay expenses and as mentioned these are not easy to get right and often require follow up
The $30-35k US price includes no charges for that follow up and while foreign clinics also do not charge the travel expenses if multiple trips are involved can negate the price advantage

I just had 1 back lower molar done. It took almost a year to complete, with quite a few trips to dentist.

Preliminary visit with x-rays etc to determine existing jaw structure and decay damage etc.

Visit to extract existing tooth structure and do bone implant to rebuild jaw structure.

Wait 4 months to heal.

Multiple visits to image jaw so that a jig can be fabricated and fitted so that drilling for anchor can be done properly.

Very difficult visit to fit jig to jaw, drill into bone structure, and set anchor.

Wait 4 months to heal.

Multiple visits to image to get dimensions for new crown.

Visit to cut away gum line and fit new crown.

Multiple visits for fitting adjustments as food debris was packing in gums causing pain and infections.

Dentist finally decided fit was not correct, and the only way to correct the food impactment issue was to build a new crown for the nearby tooth to correct gap issue.

Visit to remove old nearby crown, fit new crown on nearby tooth.

Been pretty good for last 6 mos or so.
