Remington Factory Closing

Post by FfNJGTFO »

A lot of articles and a mention on Newsmax this morning about the Remington Factory in NY closing on March 4, due to (among other things), the Sandy Hook shooting (well, that's what the article is reporting).

The question I have is, is there any discussion in re: the plant "relocating" to a more 2A friendly state (Tenn, FL, Tx)?

This says they are moving to Georgia. Plant and headquarters.

I don't know if this is true. I have read several other pieces saying about moving to Georgia. Some say headquarters and some say plant and headquarters.

I grew up in upstate New York and have family that worked in the plant. In spite of the bankruptcy sale it was thought that the 870 would remain in Illion. Granted, losing the sandy hook case for marketing to young men was a kick in the pants, the State of New York has been working for years to make the environment unfriendly to the company. The decision is based in part upon the fact the business did not feel they could rely upon the support of the political powers. In a related situation, as of September,2023, every purchase of ammo in NYS requires a background check every time a purchase is made. The average delay is three days. All ammo at Bass Pro is under lock and key. They have to provide a separate desk to handle the situation. (Don't run out of ammo during hunting season.)

I almost can't blame them for pulling up stakes for greener pastures.

Surprised they're moving. I'm curious what's going to happen to the plant since for decades, leadership has been worried about the EPA declaring it a superfund site.

That'll be right up the governments alley, then eminent domain takeover for subsidized housing

"Migrants" got to live someplace.

Ilion used to have an image, or meaning: Remington and for shotgun people, Larry DelGrego.
