Primaring an incumbent is extremely hard since the RPOF bylaws states that they must support an incumbent Republican, no matter what. That means the incuhas access to the party's campaign war chest.FfNJGTFO wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 6:05 pmThen you know what you need to do... (see below)
But their successors and trainees are still there. And the FL legislators that allow it to happen (i.e. "Reno's RINOs"). You often tell me how hard it is to get Red Flag laws overturned because of those legislators. And how hard it is to get real OC passed.
You know what you need to do.... what we all need to do. Primary their a$$es out, so we can get Red Flag laws eliminated and Civil Asset Forfeiture "felonized." You help me with those two things, and I'll be happy to help with OC, even though it won't be of value to me.

No, authoritarianism isn't the answer. At a certain point all your choices are bad, and then it is just better to have powerful friends and weak enemies rather than vice versa. At this point I have given up on zombie constitutionalism except as an expedient means to an end. I am perfectly willing to give lip service to its "forms" to placate the normie masses, just like most of the radical left does now (everything they do is adjudged "Constitutional," or will be when they take over the Supreme Court), but on any "true" level it is dead dead dead. It was built for a population that no longer exists (and I am not just talking demographics). Franklin's famous answer to the question of Elizabeth Willing Powel: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" was "A republic, if you can keep it." Well that's been resolved, unfortunately. Conservatism has "conserved" almost nothing, and certainly not a republic, and the libertarians are self-destructing in real time, although that process has long been in the works (with 2020 was the breaking point). So....

Well, not really. The way elites stay in power is at the point of a gun. Can't have the unwashed masses in a position to challenge that.

No, it isn't the answer--it's the fact. You live under it now, and it is getting progressively (ha ha) worse. This regime is increasingly jailing its political opponents more and more every day.Miami_JBT wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 8:54 amNo, authoritarianism isn't the answer. Losing slightly more slowly is not an answer, either. The boiling frog analogy is not actually true for frogs, just for us. Frogs are not capable of self-deceit.
Fundamentally these things are not a choice anyway. It's the dialectic, man. They have pushed things too far, and continue pushing. The reaction is currently muted because people are still relatively fat and happy materially--lulled with weed, porn, video games, MCU films, etc. replacing the bread and circuses of yesteryear. When that changes (as it always has), the lid will blow off. You and I can no more stop it (or start it, for that matter) than we can control the tides.
The maniacs in "both parties" (and their neo-con and neo-liberal analogues around the world) are openly willingly to risk World War 3 to prop up the status quo: the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency (the ONLY thing that currently allows the U.S. to survive spiralling debt); our "allies" trading their sovereignty for our protection (hence the US "defense" umbrella spread all over the globe); and the ongoing replacement of pain-in-the-ass historic national populations for more malleable, low-IQ imported ones.
“Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.”
^^ Quite correct.
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.
2 things Disney ain't letting happen, ever:
1) Casino gambling. The Indians agree.
2) Open carry. So many tourists from Europe, Asia, who would stop coming $$$ if they saw hordes of armed folks.
Yes it's hot here, dress accordingly (shirts by "Omar the tentmaker"). Joe

Carhartt extra tall t-shirts are LONG as hell. I'm six feet tall and they make me look like I am wearing a dress (don't pop a boner, guys). I think I could carry a mare's leg under there.pharmer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 8:54 am 2 things Disney ain't letting happen, ever:

Europeans and Asians visit all the states with open carry. You think Europeans and Asians are turned away from Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Tombstone, the Alamo, etc?
Nope.
They flock to all those places and take plenty of pictures of the "American Cowboys" carrying their guns. They're fascinated by it since they can't do it in their home countries.
Also, only 4% - 6% of tourists that visit FL are foreigners. The vast majority are Americans

Worldwide, Disney operates more tables and slots than Caesar's and MGM combined. They'd give both nuts to have a casino in Florida.pharmer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 8:54 am 2 things Disney ain't letting happen, ever:

"Open Carry will run off the tourists" is as old of a lie as "The streets will run red with blood if CC is allowed." Hell, it's almost as false as "Let's just try the tip and see how it feels."
Yes, it's hot AF here. Having to compromise health and comfort over safety is a dumb choice when both are possible if only freedom were legalized.

Disney does not run gambling operations. Even their cruises have no gambling on board. But the argument over open carry is indeed dumb.George W wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:08 pmWorldwide, Disney operates more tables and slots than Caesar's and MGM combined.
