So, who am I primarying?

Post by FfNJGTFO »

OK I've had a look at the primary 2024 ballot for my district. Here are the GOP choices (inc. = Incumbent)

For US Senator:

1) John S. Columbus
2) Keith Gross
3) Rick Scott (Inc.)

For US House of Rep:

1) Jennifer Barbosa
2) James Judge
3) Laurel Lee (inc.)

For Pasco County Commissioner (District 4)

1) Christina "Fitzy" Fitzpatrick
2) Gabriel "Gabe" Papadopoulos
3) Lisa Yeager

For Pasco County Commissioner (District 5)

1) Gina Finocchiaro
2) Jack Mariano (inc) - He's the only one that spending $$$ on advertising on Newsmax that I can see.

So, who should I vote for and who should I "primary?" I have my preferences already. And I'm not terribly happy with the "Incumbents."
More specifically, what is their 2A record? Not happy at all with Laurel Lee (Tom Lee's wife). And, Rick Scott? Mr. "Red Flag" law himself? I think not.

What say y'all?

ETA: NRA-PVF Gives Laurel Lee an "A" but I'm not sure about that.

Brad Yeager also gets an "A" as well.

GOA rates the US House Reps as follows:

1) Jennifer Barbosa "A"
2) James Judge "A"
3) Laurel Lee (inc.) "B+"

For US Senate:

1) Keith Gross "A"
2) John Columbus "NR"
3) RIck Scott "NR"

Lee has got to go. I really can't wait to vote against her. She's no better than her husband, Tom. I am going with Barbosa. I'm a bit concerned about her recent Cali roots, but I gave my wife a chance. I may as well give her a shot.

I am going with Scott for Senate. The General election will be closer in this race than POTUS and I think any of the others will fare worse. With potential SCOTUS picks in the near future, I fear giving up a seat in the Senate.

Scott is no better/worse than Trump on guns, so....

Agreed. Trump was horrible on gun rights. His SCOTUS picks have been pretty good though. Regardless of who is President, nominees have to clear the Senate. Losing Scott in a primary fight would likely present a wounded Republican in the General, losing the seat to the Dems at worst, having a narrowly won seat at best.

Totally fair point. I'll have to consider carefully. And, really, the only tangible bad thing Scott did was sign Red Flag laws into law.

But that one was a biggie! :(
