Interesting. That's probably the best way to handle it if outside your home, just demand names/ID. Situational awareness is important. If I were outside and saw a couple of bums like that walking down the street, I'd go inside. If inside, I wouldn't open the door. These guys look like a couple of scammers, the type who do fake roofing or driveway repair; the type one sees in the news who try to double-team a resident so they can get inside and one robs the place while the legitimate occupant is kept busy. I'd be inclined to call the local police or Sheriff if I saw them walking around.

I saw the smirk on the shorter thinner one when the occupant mentioned the Constitution. Said a lot.

I wouldn't let them inside, no matter what. I've actually had "people" from Comcast attempt to enter my house to "inspect" the wiring, etc. They even drove a Comcast truck. I did npt let them in. They left,eventually.

But, if I were inside, I would not let them in.
