Hey guys, I know this has come up before, but I wanted to ask again. Does anyone know of any competitions going on in South Florida? I'd mean the Miami area, or at least between Ft. Lauderdale and Homestead. I used to (occasionally) attend the TSSA events at Trail Glades (and a couple of times at Markham) but I stopped for a while then left for Atlanta back in 2019 and since coming back I don't see anything happening at all.
I've heard of a few local clubs but it seems you have to join up before they even give you a schedule of events. A couple of months ago I went to observe a Cowboy Action shooting event and though it was certainly interesting and I might want to try it sometime, the necessary equipment is too expensive for me right now.
So what gives? What happened to the local competitions, and are there any that accept non-member shooters?
South Florida competitions?
South Florida competitions?

Most of the clubs have their info and run registrations through Practiscore. Some other matches pop up occasionally in addition to those regularly run by the 2 clubs below. You have to click on the "Matches" tab and update the location to see them on the map.
TSSA IDPA is gone, DSF took its place. They run monthly matches rotating between Markham and Homestead. According to their website, they want you to have CWL and be a member of IDPA and NRA to become a member. Don't know if they will allow you to join the match without membership.

SFPC USPSA is still very active at Markham. Weekly practice matches, monthly steel, regular USPSA, and 2/3gun matches. Good to go as a non-member, it will cost $35 per match (vs $25 member price). Annual membership is $75 per calendar year.

Can you please describe "informal but serious matches" a little bit? Are they USPSA/IDPA type, where you close the range and do move and shoot stages indoors? Or more bullseye, or shooting from your lane, type? Rifle calibers?handlebar wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 10:24 pm The Sportsman's Gun Club is accepting new members.

Thank you!
We shoot indoors.
We shoot typical NRA bullseye targets for fun, but we have classifications that will be awarded medals for class and place. This is the serious part, placing in the top 3 of your class. Main goal is fun and comradery.
We shoot 22LR pistol with or without red dot, Centerfire matches with or without red dot, 45 ACP match, modified
22LR rifle and PCC match. The emphasis is fun, but members like to win.
All members are retired (police, doctors, dentists, teachers, truck drivers, etc.) but that is NOT a requirement.
We don't do IDPA or other similar types of matches.
