I was hoping to make it to the first show of the season today at the Youth Fair grounds. I saw online that for some reason tickets for today's show were $2 more than the rest of the shows listed for the year. I have several of their $1 off coupons so I figured I'd go anyway. Then, when I got there, I saw the sign that the price for parking wasn't $5 anymore, but $10. I immediately turned my car around and came home. It's not worth $27 just to get in.
I remember when there used to be shows at Coconut Grove and they charged for the parking. Back then, I used to say I preferred the ones at the fairgrounds because they had three things the Coconut Grove ones didn't;
Free Parking
Good Parking
Actual Parking.
Well, we're down to one out of three now. If the price to park remains $10 I'll probably not be going to any more shows there.
Still, did anyone else make it there? Was there anything interesting?
Did anyone make it to the show at the fairgrounds today?

I went. The usual good selection of new guns, not great on older guns, at least ones I can spring for and remain married.
Yeah, that parking was a crazy surprise. I met a friend there. Next time we will meet nearby and drive one car in.
Parking rates in Miami-Dade have gone crazy everywhere. They have gone up here in Broward, too, but there is just more free parking available. For now.

“Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.”
Well, that figures.tector wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:49 pm I went. The usual good selection of new guns, not great on older guns, at least ones I can spring for and remain married.

I actually have the most fun looking through the used guns/gear. There are only a few new guns I'd be interested in buying. At least looking through older guns and gear gives you something interesting to do. I rather enjoy the thrill of the search and maybe finding something you know someone else would appreciate. I enjoyed the WPB gun show last year when I found a couple of new very-old stock pouches from a manufacturer that no longer exists. I got them for about $10 each and sold them both for about $200 to someone who knew their actual value. The best I can say from the MD show recently was I bought some new in wrapper Taurus mags from the 10rd days really cheap and was able to sell them to a non-free state for about four times what I paid for them. Still, it would be nice to find something that I particularly want to keep for myself at one of these, but you don't usually get that if it's all new stuff.
I might try the one in February but if parking is still $10, I may skip it just on principle.
Thanks for chiming in though.
Did anyone else go? Was there anything interesting to report?

For $27, I think I’ll pass! Seems like they’re screwing over folks who are willing to pay to see more and more crap!
