Were there some new developments on this? I know about from years ago, but I haven't seen anything recent.

Now that I've done some more digging, perhaps it's not new new news...

Still, it's why I didn't like Bondi for AG

We get you don't like Bondi and it sounds like you don't like Trump. Why dredge up old news? If it happens now then it would be a topic of discussion. For now it has not happened.

If anything, the fact that Florida still has Red Flag gun laws is the real problem.
Everybody's got a plan until they get hit.

Agreed. And getting rid of them I think is going to require "litigation" not "legislation." It's clear that there is way too much resistance from all the opposing sides (The "Rodent," FRF, Sheriff's assoc, FL RINOs in the legislature, etc.) to do it by legislation. These people have the legislators by the tits/balls.

The only way to do it, I think, is to sue their a$$es to smithereens. I just haven't seen a whole lot of activity in this area. Maybe the federal govt. can do one of those "withholding federal funds" things for States that enact them, or don't repeal them. Hopefully, the message gets to DeSantis before he leaves office.

it's the RINOs in the legislature and the Sec Ag that are behind expanding and keeping the red flag laws.

The red flag laws are nothing more than political opportunism, pandering to the hysterical feminines (both birth genders).
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.

Well, it's a bit more than that.

As currently written (i.e. bypassing all the "due process" clauses, etc.), these laws offer LE an opportunity to achieve an "underlying objective." That being, "Disarm the public and get weapons off the streets!" It's very simple and effective.

LE gets wind of an owner with a large inventory (more than they think the owner should have). They simply go to a judge and say, "We need an ERPO against this person as we feel they are a danger to themselves..." even if there never been any evidence that they are. What does the judge know? He doesn't know or care. He commits the cardinal sin. He trusts the LEA, and signs the order. BOOM! Damage done. LE now has that owner's inventory. And, even if the owner is cleared eventually of the ERPO (i.e. not declared a danger to themselves or others), do you really think LE is just going to give that owner back their inventory (i.e. "Oh, sorry.... our bad... here ya go!")? Nah, they're going to keep them and deprive that owner. They just got those weapons off the streets! They ain't gonna let them go back there.

That's the major issue with Red Flag laws. The way in which LE can abuse them.. And it's probably why they oppose the repeal of them. And why they've influenced the FL GOP leadership accordingly.
