Hard to find any legit excuse for this. Yes, a woman cop again.

Watching for parking violations.
After the “administrative suspension” she’ll expect to be promoted.
I’d be surprised if the story isn’t gone by tomorrow.

Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.
C'Mon, guys.... What would you have her do? Emerge from her car by herself into a brawl of like 5-6 thugs? I don't think even her service weapon would cover all of that, out in the open. Maybe if it were a MAC-10 or something with a 100 rnd mag.... Does LE even train for things like that (a single LEO responding to a pack of 5-6 thugs)?
That said, I'd definitely want to hear the radio comms. Was she reporting it? Was she giving follow ups? Did she request backup immediately? Could she have, perhaps, used the PA to get some of the thugs off the victim and turning towards her direction in the car so she could draw on them?
When I was working as an EMT in my former PRNJ Township, there were always 5 cruisers out on patrol, including the watch commander. There was one female LEO at the time. She was pretty tough on her own, but all she had to do was say "send me backup" on the radio and those guys would immediately be screaming sirens to get to her.
Now, OTOH, if there were, say, 5 LEOs on the scene and all of them did nothing while the victim was being beaten up, then that's a different story.

I expect her to do her fucking job, which is to stop people from being beaten, very possibly to the point of serious injury or death. If they don't like their job, they can fucking leave. While I think you greatly underestimate the impact of the appearance of a service weapon on the scene, that is irrelevant. Her duty is to try, period.
Are you a big Scot Peterson fan, too? Maybe the Uvalde PD as well?

No, I'm not kidding. Are you expecting a single, solitary LEO to bust up a fight between 5-6 thugs at once, all by herself? Any one of which can produce a weapon to use against her? What kind of crazy is that?tector wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 12:25 pmYou are kidding, right?FfNJGTFO wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 11:46 am C'Mon, guys.... What would you have her do? And I think you overestimate it. "Five against one" + a Glock 19? I don't think so. And when those five can disperse and come at her in all different directions? Like I said, that's something for which they should be offering training, and if they are not, then the problem is not with that LEO but with the agency for not training properly. Not that I believe there is a trainable defense against that. I think she did the right thing in this case, as long as she laid on that radio and advised as to what was going on. And, like I said, she could have tried to lure the thugs away from the victim and focus them on her, where she could draw and fire against them, if needed. There are many different ways of "trying" rather than just going in there and attempting to bust it up, and getting one's self killed.
Neither. Uvalde is the very scenario I mention in my first reply. A group of LEOs that do nothing against one single individual, not the other way around (1 LEO against 5). Similarly for Scott Peterson - One single bad guy. I'd expect One LEO to be able to handle one BG. If they can't, they don't deserve their badge.
You can take the boy out of NJ, but....

I have to wonder what she would have done had the attacked driver defended himself.
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.
If he had the means he plainly should have done so, since if the cops don't like the odds they are not going to protect you.
What a hell of a great job--they are entrusted with the power of life and death over us all, but they only are obligated to exercise that if they are comfy with the circumstances. If they are not, they can just munch doughnuts I guess, at least according to some.

I'm with Tector here. Should she have gone 5 on 1? No, she should have intervened when it was only 2 versus one.
Had it stayed "2 on 1" for the duration, I'd agree with you. But that "2 on 1" suddenly became "5 on 1" in a heartbeat. And if all those "5" were armed, she'd be a dead cop by now. It may have looked like "2 on 1" in the video, at first, but I'm thinking she saw the other three coming, where we could not.
Let's see what Internal Affairs has to say. If they rule against her, then I'll respect that.
