If you're in the market, try checking out the Tisas 1911's. They come in all shapes and sized including some with threaded barrels and from what I've seen, the quality is pretty good for the price. Check out Classic Arms, which carries a lot of their models to see what's available.
My posts kill threads.

Curious why 1911? Is that your EDC as well?

p.s.: It will likely take an act of Congress to change status quo into "no tax required" for cans.

No, my EDC is a P-365. But I have/keep 1911's as part of the HD plan, primarily for their stopping power. I use AE.45acp JHP rounds.

And, I've been reconsidering this. I think the more expedient approach is to drill/practice with headphones when in bed. Then it doesn't matter what I'm using.

Congress will never repeal the NFA or even parts of it. The only hope is to dismantle it in the courts.

If you decide to buy the can, I would go with a setup similar to your EDC. 365X/XL/Macro/Fuse, threaded barrel and red dot, 17rd or higher capacity mags. Quality 147gr 9mm HPs work well enough and are subsonic.

Is there anything promising in the pipeline now?

Same thing for Red Flag laws. Gonna have to be done via litigation, not legislation.

Firearm Policy Coalition is burying a lot of states in lawsuits. https://www.firearmspolicy.org/
They're the only rights group getting money from me right now.
