Because Florida is a swing state...and it’s only a matter of time before the big blue cities flip the whole state Democrat/Liberal.
The writing is on the wall and I’m planning accordingly. I won’t be living in Florida full-time when the Progressive/Socialist bastards take over. I’m voting with my feet.

(but maybe that's a good thing to keep "them" out)
Been to Tulsa a few times for the big show--nice place, but obviously it gets COLD.
Utah might be a better choice for me--SW Utah, near St. George. About 2 hours north of Vegas. By the time Utah goes commie, it will long be the USSA anyway.

“Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.”
What is it with all these pro-felon gun owners? Whether this forum or the next, across the web a sizeable portion of gun owners are sympathetic to felon voting rights!!!
Yes, most felons will not vote.
Yes, those who do vote will mostly vote democrat.
In Florida, how many elections come down to less than 1 %? SEVERAL. Just look at these last elections...
Will felon voters tip the scales? YES.
More than 1,000,000 felons. If just 20% of them vote, and if they break 60/40 Democrat
By math that's 200,000 voters, splitting 120,000 Democrat, 80,000 Republican.
That's +40,000 Democrat.
What were the margins for these races? Less than that.
Bad news is, more than 20% will vote, and felons will be more than 60% of the felon population....
GAME OVER.
It's too late.
There were enough gun owners who either:
1. Stayed home this time
2. Voted in favor of felon voting rights
Who could have helped defeated this measure. Also, non-2nd Amendment focused Republicans who voted for this. Ballot passed with 65% ...
Do you think a single one of them will ever think back and remember this as the root cause? Of course not.
Will any of them take responsibility for their political sloth/apathy as well as uninformed positions? Of course not.
What will they do?
1. Whine a lot.
2. Blame the NRA
3. Threaten to move to another state (where they will blunder away there too)
4. Be "brave" dissenters and "bury" their guns, just like the founding fathers buried their guns in 1775...
5. Hope for a favorable court ruling that will never come.
6. Buy more ammo for guns they can no longer own, or must register with the state.
When all they had to do was get their ass out and actually vote.

Add to that calculation that the Homestead exemption increase (Amendment 1, IIRC; not the one for the 10% second home) failed, on the same ballot. This suggests to me that:
1. Fewer homeowners cast votes, implicitly more renters or couch-crashers;
2. Many homeowners can't read. If so, why did they read enough to vote for felon voting?
As disclosure, I voted for felon restoration. I know that there are many felonies that are just plain bs, leverage for prosecutors to rack up scores. I also own a home. The demographics are turning, and not for the better. I find myself looking at the losers, by how much they lost. If very little, as was mostly the case, the electorate is frightening considering for what so many voted. Someone said "Georgia is looking better and better [as a place to move]" Look at what lost, the blatant gun confiscation stance, but only slightly. It doesn't matter if it's ballot harvesting, vote stuffing, or just plain old fashioned fraudulent entries, there are enough of that mentality to be trouble.

Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.
I'm 70, and own outright my house.
I've been saying for years that I have just one more move in my future, when I take up permanent residency in a urn.
Well, that will likely change if Florida's constitution is amended to more or less ban guns.
Northern Arizona looks nice, Prescott and Flagstaff are very pro gun areas.
I do not understand where that 60% vote came from.
I had a survey last week, asking me if I would support a simple majority vote on state constitutional amendments.
My answer was Hell No.
In my opinion, the vote should be at a minimum 2/3's, and preferably 3/4's.

I'm probably moving to New Mexico sometime in 2019, which sucks because they just flipped blue.

60% came from a Constitutional Amendment that was an attempt to prevent stupid shit from being added to the Constitution. It passed when only simple majority was needed. It didn't even get 60% and folks figured it would make us safe. This last election cycle proved we're not.Gregg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 4:20 pm I'm 70, and own outright my house.

Also, Arizona is much like Florida. A state being infested with others fleeing Leftist run states but bringing their voting patterns. Arizona is going to flip soon to Democratic control like we are.
There is nowhere to run. What makes states successful are also their downfall. Affordability, Low Taxes, Cheap Cost of Living, and Pro Business Climates. That attracts Leftists fleeing their fuck ups. But the moment they settle in their new homes. They go right on voting the same policies that made their old homes fuck ups.
