Every New Years Eve, I wait for a round to come through the patio doors, as I can hear dip-fuks shooting in the distance.

I had a NYE party one year on an elevated balcony and we heard rounds whizzing over our heads. I called 9-1-1 and was told that "officers were not authorized to enter the area for their own safety". I replied "Fine...I'm getting MY rifle and I'll take care of it!"

There were five cruisers at my address within minutes, looking for me...

News reporting is so shoddy on almost every issue, you really don't know enough until much later on in many cases.

There are a LOT of people out there who despite evidence to the contrary believe that a bullet fired up in the air falls to earth like a pebble rolling off a roof.

Wait I'm confused here. LE stated they were not authorized to respond in your area for their own safety.

Yet when you said you'd defend YOUR SAFETY against people shooting up towards you jeopardizing your safety they responded.

I'm just saying if you live in an area so bad L.E. will not respond to because of shootings on a holiday. I'd say it's just not holidays these shootings happen on.

I'd be moving my butt to a different area

Yes, that is exactly what happened. They showed up and contacted ME, asking for my rifle. I said "what rifle"? "Don't know what you're talking about". They gave me a lecture and left. The shooting continued. We moved our party inside.

This happened when I lived in San Diego. I lived on the very edge of Logan Heights, where all the Latino gang-bangers were allowed to roam/rule. San Diego PD (and the City Commission) are pussies.

Speaking of pussies, BSO has the same policy where I live now. They won't respond in 'da hood on 4th of July or New Years Eve.
