Ok.
It isn't a permission problem, because I cannot use this function either. It is not a problem due to any plugin. Removed the all and it was still doing it.
Still looking, but it looks like phpBB has been plagued with this message for quite a while now and not only in the PM area.
As [mention]REDinFL[/mention] says, in the meantime, just use the "x" button on the message when you view it. I keep on working on it.

It doesn't look good. I have tried every php version on the server. Then I created a brand new forum with all the latest versions and it still does not work. pbpBB claims this problem is solved. Doesn't look like it.
I'll keep you all posted, but don't expect anything anytime soon.

Yeah, I've got same problem.
Not an issue yet, still have some msg space available, but sooner or later box will be full.

No solutions at this time. Use [mention]REDinFL[/mention] solution. Open the message and delete. It works like that.
