Come and meet with Florida's finest shooters.

I'm a black "member". I can say that part of the reason you don't see many of us here is because of actual racist/anti-black sentiment expressed here and other forums. There's a definite streak of racism and anti-blackness in the gun community and places like this are hostile to our presence. I'm sure someone will argue against this because, of course, as a black person I don't know what I'm talking about.Taco wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 10:56 am It's exclusionary, but I wouldn't go as far as racist...
But I think the mention of race has distracted from the big picture here... Who do we have here on this board? We had a single black member 12 years ago, we had half a dozen Hispanic members, we had a dozen women. I think they're all long gone- maybe some still lurk. Just old white men here now.
I’m flabbergasted at what you wrote. At the gun show I treat black customers as well as white customers. I only see one color, & it’s green. Okay -- so YOU might not behave that way but we have a few threads here where people have explained that it'd be difficult to get this board to agree that racism isn't part of its values. There's an active thread where two people declared that they are in fact racist and no one hinted that that might be wrong or a bad thing.N4KVE wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 11:49 amI’m flabbergasted at what you wrote. You have a few Hispanics members here, mostly Cuban Americans and me personally have never felt feel threatened or discriminated by what the real racists call “old bitter white peoples” to the contrary, I’ve been treated like family by most, Rent being a little too “friendly” BTW....Taco wrote:It's exclusionary, but I wouldn't go as far as racist...

If you take a look at the country's demographics you'll notice something- A fast shrinking demo is white men. With numbers come votes, and votes are power.
So what do we, as a freedom loving gun community, need? It's not the same group of old white men. We need to get our safe gun culture to seap into communities that are traditonally anti-gun. Right now what is the message those communities are getting? Guns are bad, guns are for criminals, guns are for terrorists, and if you have a gun the police are going to kill you. None of that is true, but when you are only hearing from the media and you have no counter-information, what are you supposed to think? Many Americans, including myself when I moved to FL, have no firearms experience. The news every day comes into our homes with a story of a shooting on this corner with a plastic ghost gun and a school shooting with a dozen children dead caused by a fully semiautomatic assault AR-47. That is followed up with hours of entertainment where murder are common.
Every time someone uses a gun in a crime it is bad for us. Every time there is a suicide using a gun it is bad for us. Every time there is a spree killing it is bad for us. Every time there is some nucklehead on the news for carrying 6 ARs to Starbucks with the intention of scaring old ladies and making a spectacle of himself because it's 'his right' it is bad for us. Every time there is a ND, a gun cleaning accidental death, or any unsafe handling of a firearm it is bad for us.
The best way to inoculate someone from the anti-gun propaganda is to teach them safe gun handling skills and put a gun in their hand.
So you judge the board by two people's rants? You really think racism is part of this boards values? Do you agree racism is not just from white people? I guarantee you I have been on the other end many times. How is it not racist when a a first responder we arrive on a scene and get insults hurled at us. Perhaps it is not racism but just regular old hate. I am firm believer in treating anyone with the same respect they afford to me. Somehow that is not true for everyone. Is that racism? I am willing to bet that there is racism as it is labeled that occurs far more often both was dthen either side wants to admit.mikem wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 12:20 pmOkay -- so YOU might not behave that way but we have a few threads here where people have explained that it'd be difficult to get this board to agree that racism isn't part of its values. And speaking of gun shows -- as fair as you might be to all of your customers, it is interesting that gun shows, for a long time, were the only place I knew I could reliably pick up a copy of The Turner Diaries.
Wouldn’t be surprised to find a few fans of The Turner Diaries here, judging by some of the crap that’s posted.
